Brock Purdy Has Successful Elbow Surgery Friday
2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (elbow) had successful surgery on his right elbow on Friday, according to a source. The surgery was the anticipated UCL repair with an internal brace, so the expectation is that Purdy will begin throwing in three months and will build up his arm strength from there. It's good news for the 23-year-old, as the alternative was Tommy John surgery, which would have kept him out for all of 2023. It will give him a chance to be ready for the start of the regular season, but it remains to be seen if that will actually happen. Former first-rounder Trey Lance (ankle), who suffered a season-ending injury in Week 2 last year, is fully expected to get all the first-team repetitions this summer and enter Week 1 as the starter under center.
