Brandon Belt Sitting Against Left-Hander
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays first baseman/designated hitter Brandon Belt will retreat to the bench on Friday with the team facing a left-hander. Alejandro Kirk will serve as the designated hitter and will bat fifth against Boston Red Sox left-hander James Paxton. Danny Jansen is behind the plate for Toronto and is batting cleanup. The 35-year-old Belt has seen just 26 plate appearances in his first year in Toronto against southpaws, and he's gone 4-for-22 against them with zero home runs, two RBI and 10 strikeouts against them. Belt will pretty much only be in Toronto's lineup when they are facing righties. He's offered very modest counting stats for fantasy managers this year, hitting .246 (61-for-248) with nine homers, 27 RBI and 33 runs scored.
