The Athletics have selected left-handed pitcher Jamie Arnold with the 11th overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft out of Florida State. Arnold made a name for himself during the 2024 campaign when he tallied an impressive 159 strikeouts across 105 2./3 innings with Florida State. This mark trailed just Chase Burns and Hagen Smith, who were two of the top pitching prospects in last year's class. Arnold followed up that strong season with another dominant campaign in 2025, where the southpaw logged 84 2/3 innings to the tune of a 2.98 ERA with a 1.06 WHIP. Arnold struck out 119 batters while allowing just 27 walks. He has an elite slider that has generated an elite total of whiffs throughout his collegiate career. The left-hander has elite control as he has never had a BB/9 over 3.0 during the past two campaigns. Arnold will now join an Athletics system that has two emerging arms in the upper minors, Gage Jump and Luis Morales. Given his collegiate experience, Arnold could contend for an early promotion to the upper minor leagues.--Andy Smith
