Max Muncy Targeting Next Weekend for a Return
Max Muncy (oblique) was sent home sick on Friday with cold/sinus issues, but he's still scheduled to face a velocity machine on Sunday and start a minor-league rehab assignment next week, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. Manager Dave Roberts said that Muncy is targeting a return from the injured list for next weekend's series in Baltimore against the Orioles. The 35-year-old veteran has been on the shelf since Aug. 15 with a strained right oblique, but he's nearing a return to the big-league lineup for the final month of the regular season. Until Muncy is able to return, expect the Dodgers to roll with Alex Freeland at second and Enrique Hernandez at third base. Muncy has only played in eight games since the All-Star break due to knee and oblique injuries but has hit .348 (8-for-23) with four homers in nine RBI in that small sample size.
