Anthony Volpe Hitting Third Against Tigers
1 year agoNew York Yankees rookie shortstop Anthony Volpe has been moved up to third in the batting order with outfielder Aaron Judge resting on Thursday against the Detroit Tigers and right-hander Matt Manning. Volpe is only hitting .216 (95-for-439) in his first major-league season, but he's doing a lot of other good things for fantasy managers and has gone 21-for-86 (.244) in August with six home runs, three doubles, a triple, 18 RBI, two stolen bases and eight runs scored in 26 games (25 starts). Taking the hit in average and on-base percentage (.294) is worth it for some fantasy managers, as Volpe has produced 19 home runs, 54 RBI, 21 stolen bases and 52 runs scored in 132 games as the team's everyday shortstop in his first MLB campaign.
