1 year agoAtlanta Braves rookie right-hander AJ Smith-Shawver is expected to be on the team's roster for the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, which begins on Saturday in Atlanta. Smith-Shawver made the first six appearances (five starts) of his major-league career this year and posted a 4.26 ERA (6.69 FIP), 1.10 WHIP, 11 walks and 20 strikeouts in 25 1/3 innings pitched. The 20-year-old right-hander isn't going to get a start in the best-of-five series against the Phillies, but he could serve in a long-relief/piggyback role at some point. As such, there won't be much DFS appeal for Smith-Shawver, and he'll have a very short leash in the postseason if he's unable to control his pitches.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
