Todd McGill's DraftKings, FanDuel PGA DFS picks for the 2026 Truist Championship at the Quail Hollow Club. Picks for daily fantasy golf based on course history.
Cameron Young continued his dominant season last week in Miami, winning the Cadillac Championship by six shots over Scottie Scheffler, who has now had three consecutive second-place finishes. The stars of the PGA Tour are shining bright, as we roll into the famed and familiar Quail Hollow this week for the Truist Championship.
Returning to its usual role as the host of this week's event, this property in Charlotte, North Carolina, is a major championship venue and one of the most beloved courses on the PGA Tour. It comes with a healthy amount of course history, with many well-known players who tend to show up when they get inside these ropes. It's a great place to get your game right before heading to the second major of the season.
Horse For The Course is an article highlighting players in this week's field with elite course history and is part of our free PGA DFS content here at RotoBaller. 2026 Truist Championship
After a one-year hiatus due to hosting last year's PGA Championship, this event (formerly the Wells Fargo Championship) returns home once again to Quail Hollow. It's been one of the more favored events since becoming a yearly mainstay in 2003, and has had a slew of big-time winners.
Most of the tour's roster is in the field for the sixth Signature Event of the season. The schedule issues are prompting guys like Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa, and Si Woo Kim to skip in preparation for Aronimink. It's the one conundrum that Brian Rolapp and company are looking to address in future schedules, because the compactness of the current "important events" is certainly diminishing these world-class tournaments to some extent.
Rory McIlroy will lead the week in DFS and betting formats, and rightfully so. Not only did he find a way to go back-to-back at The Masters, but he's arguably been the strongest player around this property for quite some time, with four career victories dating all the way back to 2010. Anyone looking to get a victory this week will likely have to go through the Northern Irishman to do so.

Quail Hollow Club
Par 71 - 7,583| Greens: Overseeded Bermudagrass | Designed By: George Cobb
Certain layouts on the PGA Tour don't necessarily generate a high yield for generating similar leaderboards year after year, but Quail Hollow isn't usually considered one of those places. It ranks pretty highly in predictive course history and is a place where many of the same faces seem to flourish. And unsurprisingly, you don't have to look far down the world ranking board to find a lot of them, as this is a big boy golf course where the cream rises to the top.
Playing over 7,500 yards and at a reduced par-71, this golf course is uncomfortably long. This week isn't a short-knocker's game, and it will eliminate a large portion of this field on that alone. Only two par-4s are playing less than 450 yards, with a couple of them extending past 500. It doesn't require that much accuracy, but players who can't average 310 or more off the tee are simply playing for a check.
Outside of driving metrics, approach numbers—specifically beyond 175 yards—are the highest correlation for total strokes gained here. At last year's PGA Championship, it made up over 64% of all approach shots that week. The one caveat would be the drier weather the area has received this season compared to the rain-soaked mess from a year ago. Nonetheless, long iron play will be the deciding factor down the stretch on Sunday.
Other stats to consider: Bogey avoidance, par-4 scoring, and three-putt avoidance

The Horse
Rory McIlroy
Notable Finishes: 1st ('10, '15, '21, '24)
Obviously, there is no surprise who the man to beat is this week, especially with the absence of Scottie Scheffler. It's Rory McIlroy. He has played Quail Hollow more consistently than perhaps any other property in the world, at least from a competitive point of view. The newly appointed King of Augusta National, a place often compared to this week's tournament host site, has been a constant force since his first appearance in 2010.
The newly turned 37-year-old (happy birthday, Rory!) was still coming off the high of winning his first green jacket last year and was a non-factor at the PGA Championship. We haven't seen him inside the ropes since his repeat, which makes it difficult to know if the hangover is as large this time around. Nonetheless, the legacy Rory McIlroy is leaving likely isn't the same without this tournament or this golf course. He's easily earned the top spot this week.

It’s always fun to hit an outright, especially when it’s over 100/1 and with a player that has a story like Gary Woodland!

Xander Schauffele
Notable Finishes: 2nd ('23 & '24)
Truist Championship week is here! ✅✅✅
After a couple weeks off, Xander Schauffele is back at Quail Hollow, a course which he has been successful at in the past.
Finished solo 2nd back to back years here in 2023 and 2024. Hopefully he can get a win over the line this year. pic.twitter.com/B151SKbWwI

There hasn't been much emphasis on Xander Schauffele's close calls a couple of years ago, but knowing what he does well, it isn't hard to see his game fitting here nicely. Last season hardly seems like a fair judgment given the injury struggles he faced during the first half of the year.
The ball striking both off the tee and on approach is still serving him well in 2026. Spotty play around the greens has been the only glaring issue keeping him out of the winner's circle, but that is the least of his concerns this week. Even with some slight regression over his two-year baseline, the 32-year-old is still one of the best long iron players in the game, ranking in the 84th percentile in strokes gained per shot and proximity to the hole outside of 200 yards.
With a few names missing this week, Schauffele's path to victory is a little easier. Look for him to take advantage and find his way into the mix.
Tommy Fleetwood
Notable Finishes: T5 ('23), T13 ('24), T14 ('21)
Something new coming…stay tuned! pic.twitter.com/w1WLNb45nU
— Tommy Fleetwood (@PAdams32089) May 4, 2026
When you think of ball striking across the board, there aren't many names more highly touted in this regard than Tommy Fleetwood. Things have gone awry in recent weeks, but it rests more with the iron play than anything he does off the tee. He's still ranked inside the top 10 in strokes gained from tee to green on the season, and the long irons are still the best area of his approach game.
There is enough to like here for Fleetwood to have heavy consideration from DFS and betting players. It's still unclear whether his recent dip in form is enough to lower ownership levels. But the absence of other key PGA Tour players will make it harder for people to find differentiation among builds when his game fits so nicely here.
Harris English
Notable Finishes: T2 ('25), T3 ('23)
Harris English puts the pressure on - 4 feet for birdie from the fairway. 🎯#PGAChamp pic.twitter.com/weMhBBt7AB

It's been a little feast or famine for Harris English in his seven career tournaments at Quail Hollow. He's never missed a cut, but it has taken him a few years to figure out his way around enough to be a factor on Sunday. The former Bulldog is always a solid performer on bermudagrass greens and has improved mightily this season in long iron approach shots.
English is by no means a powerhouse off the tee, but he can do enough for it not to be a hindrance. It's taken him gaining over eight shots on approach to contend here, which will likely be the case again this week. That seems a bit out of reach, given his most recent form, but it wouldn't be the first time he showed up at a long and demanding golf course.
