Pat Freiermuth's fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 16 (2023). Our advice on whether you should start or sit Pat Freiermuth for fantasy lineups.
BALLER MOVE: Start in 12-team leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: High-end TE2 with low-end TE1 upside
ANALYSIS: Pat Freiermuth has disappointed fantasy managers the last three weeks. He's averaging just three receptions for 21 yards on 5.3 targets per game. However, his opportunity appears to be on the rise. In his last two games, his route participation has been north of 85% (per PlayerProfiler). Those are season highs for him. He also has games of 60 and 105 air yards in two of his last four games.
Despite the subpar fantasy production, his opportunity is on the rise, and his Week 16 matchup vs. the Bengals couldn't be any better. Cincinnati allows the most receptions, yards, and targets to opposing tight ends this season. In Week 12, he went for 9-120-0 on 11 targets on just a 59% snap share and 71% route participation rate.
The last time Mason Rudolph started a game for the Steelers, Freiermuth had nine targets. He could very well be Rudolph's safety blanket today in a very favorable matchup.
