ANALYSIS: The Milwaukee backcourt has been beat up a bit. As a result, O.J. Mayo has been masquerading as the Bucks' starting point guard. Michael Carter-Williams is still involved and Mayo will shift to his natural shooting-guard when both players are on the floor. However, Mayo has been seeing more minutes and you can expect a slight increase in his assist numbers. Don't go thinking he's going to turn into Steve Nash -- he only has seven in his first two games since assuming the starting point guard duties -- but there is some upside to be had here.
Mayo has come a long way since his rocky start in the NBA, as he finally seems to be a team player. He used to have a reputation for being a ball-hog and a shoot-first type of player. Jason Kidd has needed him to assume a leadership role on the Bucks though as a veteran presence among a team full of youngsters.
The team first mentality that Mayo seems to have embraced now increases his value as he can be used in various ways, and he won't kill your shooting percentages in the way he may have in the past. He has scored double digit points in each of the last three games and has has at least one steal in his last six. He's shown the ability to score in the past, and he has middling rebound and assist numbers so he makes for a good player to round out your rosters with.
