ANALYSIS: At the beginning of the season, Michael Taylor wasn't supposed to be more than a platoon outfielder for the Washington Nationals. Once Ben Revere went down with an oblique injury after his second at-bat during Opening Day, Taylor was inserted into the lineup as Washington's everyday center fielder and leadoff hitter. However, he hasn't done much to make the absence of Revere in a lineup hurt any less.
Known more for his speed than anything else, Taylor has stolen only two bases and has been caught once over a 16 game span. He has gone deep twice, but his average has remained below .2oo. He's shown signs of life, collecting four multi-hit performances, but has struggled to string together any consistency. The inability to trust Taylor in an everyday fantasy role is the reason why his ownership is so low. His K% sits at a high 33.3%, increased from last season's 30.9%. He's also reaching base via the walk only 4.3% of plate appearances. Potential is really all Taylor has and until that turns to something else, he can remain on the waiver wire. Ben Revere's return date of around mid-May is also looming.
