BALLER MOVE: Start in 12-Team PPR Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: High-End WR4
ANALYSIS: Seattle Seahawks rookie wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is starting to come into his own after a slow start to the 2023 season, making him an ascending player in fantasy football leagues.
Last time out against the Dallas Cowboys, Jaxon Smith-Njigba saw a season-high 11 targets, catching seven of those, which also represented the best mark of his NFL career. He finished with 62 receiving yards, just one yard off his previous high of 63 yards, which he's hit twice this season.
Smith-Njigba hasn't had a true breakout game yet, but the way his role is increasing for the Seahawks is encouraging. Still, considering we haven't really seen him hit his ceiling yet and that we've only seen JSN in the end zone twice all season, it's hard to really view him as more than a WR4 play, someone you can play in 12-team PPR leagues but can't really use comfortably in other formats.
This week, he faces the 49ers, who rank near the middle of the league in passing yards allowed. It's a fairly neutral matchup, though we do have a previous meeting between these two teams to use as evidence when it comes to determining Smith-Njigba's fantasy value. The last time these teams met, Smith-Njigba caught just two passes, though a 34-yard reception helped him finish with a respectable 41 yards.
