Juwan Johnson Injury Update for Fantasy Football

While Juwan Johnson has now missed four consecutive games for the Saints with a calf injury, there is some hope that Johnson could return this week when the Saints take on the Indianapolis Colts.

Johnson has returned to practice, though he remains limited at practice. The fact that he's practicing is a positive sign for Johnson's return to the field this week.

It's not a guarantee, though. Until Johnson is a full participant in practice, we can't be 100% certain that the tight end will be on the field in Week 8 against the Colts.

Juwan Johnson Fantasy Football Outlook

Assuming Juwan Johnson is active on Sunday against the Colts, his return really just muddies the fantasy picture in New Orleans.

In three games this season, Juwan Johnson has been targeted 12 times, catching seven passes for 61 yards. The fourth-year tight end hasn't done anything this season that suggests he should be trusted as a fantasy option this week.

His return also hurts the fantasy outlook for Taysom Hill. Hill has played over half of New Orleans' offense snaps in three of the four games that Johnson has been sidelined, but never surpassed 40% of snaps in the three games that Johnson played. Hill's usage patterns have made him an intriguing dart throw at tight end, but his value takes a sizable hit if Johnson cuts into his snaps at TE.
