Five Injured Players to Stash in Fantasy Baseball - Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 15 (2025)

Grayson Rodriguez - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB DFS Picks, Injury News

Kipp highlights five injured fantasy baseball players worth stashing in redraft leagues, as of July 4, 2025 (Week 15). His waiver wire pickups for IL players.

We've got another edition of the Injured Players to Stash in Fantasy Baseball series for Week 15 as we continue the 2025 season into the summer months. Today's article examines injured players, including Grayson Rodriguez, Joc Pederson, and Noelvi Marte, among others.

With the 2025 fantasy baseball season starting to enter the dog days of summer, several injured players who are out there have low roster percentages and may be available on your league's waiver wires. These players can provide significant value to fantasy managers, especially if they have an IL spot available on their roster.

This article will be featured weekly with updated players for fantasy managers to consider picking up and stashing off the waiver wire. We will typically highlight two pitchers as well as three hitters who should be added with a sense of urgency before your league mates can scoop them up. Without further ado, let's look at what Week 15 of the fantasy baseball season has to offer.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Luis Gil, SP, New York Yankees

Rostered: 30% Yahoo
Estimated Return: Late July

2024 Stats: 3.50 ERA/171 K/77 BB/151 2/3 IP

Luis Gil is making his second consecutive appearance in this article. He is up just a tick at 30% rostershare in Yahoo leagues, but this should begin to creep up further as his return timeframe gets closer in the coming weeks.

Gil has been completing bullpen sessions regularly and is expected to get up to 35 pitches in a live session this week. Once this is completed, one would presume he will be sent out on a rehab assignment to get ramped up for his debut, which is expected to come later this month.

Getting a pitcher of Gil's caliber on the waiver wire is not an easy task, and we often have to look to take advantage of injuries when players like this are dropped.

The Yankees are also eager to get Gil back, as their rotation is a bit in flux, given Gerrit Cole's (elbow) season-ending injury earlier this spring. Upon his return, the Yankees will likely ease him back in initially and then let him roll.

In 2024, Gil averaged approximately 5 1/3 innings pitched per start, so while not exactly an innings eater, his strikeout upside cannot be denied. He also posted a very respectable 1.19 WHIP in 2024, so he will help in multiple categories once he is reinstated.

Grayson Rodriguez, SP, Baltimore Orioles

Rostered: 40% Yahoo
Estimated Return: Early August

2024 Stats: 3.86 ERA/130K/36 BB/116 2/3 IP

I mentioned Grayson Rodriguez as someone to stash last month, and now that we are about a month away from his return, it feels like another good time to bring him up. Rodriguez threw a bullpen session last week, and all accounts are that it went well. He will need some time to build up before being sent on a rehab assignment, but he is still worth rostering if you have the space or a huge lead in your league.

The Orioles certainly are desperate for Rodriguez to return as their rotation is in shambles, and why wouldn’t they be? In 2024, he posted a solid 3.86 ERA with more than one strikeout per inning pitched. He also racked up 13 wins in his 20 starts while being backed by a respectable Orioles offense.

He is looking to make his return early next month if all goes according to plan, and could provide fantasy managers with an ace up their sleeve during the fantasy baseball playoff push.

Look to add him soon, as once the rehab assignment is announced, he will likely be scooped up quickly.

Joc Pederson, OF, Texas Rangers

Rostered: 3% Yahoo
Estimated Return: Late July

2025 Stats: .131/.269/.238/2 HRs/6 RBI/20 BB/1 SB

Joc Pederson has been out since the end of May with a broken hand, but he is progressing well and should make a return to the Texas Rangers' lineup near the end of this month. Pederson has always been known for the pop from the left side of the plate, as he has smacked 20 or more home runs in two of the previous three seasons.

While this may not seem like much, it is worth noting that Pederson has also posted 50+ walks in each of the previous two seasons. Last season, Pederson managed to post a .393 OBP, which can also help fantasy managers immensely, especially if this Texas Rangers' offense can pick up the pace as they have done recently.

Pederson is only eligible in the outfield, but he can also fit on a roster as a platoon option in such a role. Since 2023, he has posted an .800 OPS with 38 home runs off of right-handed pitchers across 911 plate appearances. Look to add him in the coming weeks once he goes on a rehab assignment, if you need some outfield depth on your roster.

Noelvi Marte, 3B, Cincinnati Reds

Rostered: 21% Yahoo
Estimated Return: Early-Mid-July

2025 Stats: .294/.342/.515/3 HRs/17 RBI/5 BB/4 SBs

I am writing this in the hope that Noelvi Marte will still be eligible for this article when it publishes on Friday, as he is currently on a rehab assignment and his return is imminent. He makes for a solid addition to any roster, and the fact that he is still just rostered in 21% of Yahoo leagues is rather surprising.

Marte started off the 2025 campaign rather hot as he was posting a .295 AVG with a solid .515 SLG across his first 73 PA. He also managed to smash three home runs and steal four bases in limited action. He was finally starting to live up to the hype before being derailed by an oblique injury.

The metrics looked pretty solid for Marte as well. He has a ridiculous sprint speed of 25.9 ft/sec, which ranks him in the 97th percentile of the league. He was also posting a respectable average exit velocity of 89.2 mph, ranking him in the top half of the league. He has a solid combination of speed mixed with some power that can provide fantasy managers a ton of value down the stretch.

This Cincinnati Reds offense has also proven to be potent at times, and they are in the thick of the wildcard hunt, so Marte could slide right in and help this team out down the stretch. He makes for a great start against right-handed pitching as well, as he was posting an OPS north of .900 vs. righties before getting injured.

Gabriel Moreno, C, Arizona Diamondbacks

Rostered: 28% Yahoo
Estimated Return: Mid-July

2025 Stats: .270/.324/.414/5 HRs/20 RBI/13 BB/1 SB

We are going to revisit Gabriel Moreno for a second straight week, as he remains just 28% rostered in Yahoo leagues and could be a solid commodity at catcher down the stretch.

I sat down the stretch as Moreno was recently diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his right pointer finger and currently has no precise timetable for his return. That being said, the fact that he plays catcher for a highly potent offense in a ballpark that is conducive to solid hitting means he needs to be included in this article for likely the next couple of weeks.

Moreno has played in 53 of the Diamondbacks' 80+ games (at the time of this writing) and has posted a very respectable.270 average while popping five home runs and driving in 20 runs. He has performed equally well against both right-handed and left-handed pitchers, as noted by his .730+ OPS against both.
