Starting Pitcher Rankings Analysis for Week 13

-Logan Gilbert has finally returned to his elite fantasy status after a few rough outings in May. He has a 2.19 ERA and a 33.7% strikeout rate across four June starts and is coming off back-to-back dominant outings against the Orioles (seven innings of one-run ball with 10 strikeouts) and the Red Sox (6 1/3 innings of one-run ball). He's once again ranked as a top-15 fantasy pitcher for the rest of the season.

-Kevin Gausman dropping down a couple of spots isn't all that surprising. He just had his worst start of the season over the weekend, allowing seven runs on seven hits across two innings. The veteran right-hander has now allowed at least four runs in three of his last four outings. However, Gausman still projects well moving forward with a 3.49 expected ERA and a 34.6% chase rate.

-Gerrit Cole's last start was pushed back one day to give him an extra day of rest. He then allowed a season-high five runs on nine hits with one walk and five strikeouts across 4 1/3 innings against the Tigers. Cole is still a top-30 pitcher in Nick's rankings, but there is some concern about his lack of swing and miss stuff (18.6% whiff rate) in his first season back from Tommy John surgery.

-Kyle Bradish has finally turned a corner on the mound. The 29-year-old threw 7 2/3 innings of one-run ball with a career-high 12 strikeouts against the Mariners on June 17 and threw eight shutout innings with nine strikeouts in his most recent start on Monday. With just one run allowed in his last 15 2/3 innings pitched, Bradish is a big riser this week. He's now ranked inside the top-45.

-Robbie Ray was always going to figure it out. Despite some inconsistencies to start the season, the seasoned veteran is back to his usual dominant self on the mound. Ray hasn't allowed an earned run across his last 14 1/3 innings pitched. The southpaw allowed just one unearned run with six strikeouts in his most recent start against the Athletics on Tuesday. That's enough to move Ray up 11 spots.

-Jose Soriano continues to trend down following a strong start to the season. Soriano had a 1.66 ERA and a 28.4% strikeout rate in his first nine starts, but he has a whopping 5.02 ERA and a 21.9% strikeout rate over his last seven starts. The Angels right-hander moves down another seven spots in these rest-of-season rankings.

-MacKenzie Gore seems to be getting more comfortable on his new team. The Rangers left-hander has a solid 3.07 ERA and a 24.1% strikeout rate over his last eight starts. He struck out a season-high 10 batters back on June 15 and threw six innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts his last time out. Pitching in a pitcher's park has helped Gore recently.

-Jared Jones has had some struggles in his first season back from elbow surgery. He has a 5.75 ERA and a 23.3% strikeout rate in his first five starts and has given up five runs in two different outings. While fantasy managers shouldn't panic about Jones, he does fall outside the top-50 on Nick's rankings.

-Freddy Peralta is one of the biggest fallers in these rankings for Week 13. The two-time All-Star just allowed a season-high 10 runs against the Phillies his last time out, and his strikeout rate is down over 6% from last season. Peralta is not looking like that ace anymore, which is why he drops 20 spots and falls outside the top-55.

-Troy Melton deserves a ton of credit for the way he has thrown the ball this year. He has allowed one run or fewer in four of five starts and carries a 2.56 ERA and 0.95 WHIP into Week 13 of the fantasy season. In his most recent start, Melton allowed one run on one hit with five strikeouts. While the strikeout numbers won't be there, the Tigers right-hander is still an appealing fantasy option moving forward.

-Davis Martin was always due for some negative regression. That regression has unfortunately hit Martin hard, as he has given up at least six runs in two of his last four starts. It is encouraging, though, that he mixed in two strong performances between those two poor ones, including throwing six innings of one-run ball in his last start. He moves down 15 spots this week, but is still a top-75 pitcher for the rest of the season.

-Cade Cavalli is the biggest faller on Nick's rankings for Week 13. The young right-hander has given up 11 earned runs across 17 2/3 innings pitched (5.60 ERA) in the month of June and lasted just 2 2/3 innings in his most recent start after giving up two runs on six hits with three walks. There isn't much hope for Cavalli left with his 4.49 expected ERA, 23.8% whiff rate, and -6 Pitching Run Value.
