FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (8/16/19): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Aaron Judge

Troy Klauder highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 8/16/19, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

There are no early Friday games today, so we've got a loaded main slate at 7:05pm ET with all 30 teams in action.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 8/16/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

Be sure to also check out all the Vegas Odds for today's slate. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @TroyKlauder

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Charlie Morton - TAM vs DET - $11,300

There's lots of high end starting pitching to choose from tonight, and Morton is among those starters thanks to his dominant 2.79 FIP and a 30.5% K-rate. Morton separates himself from the field with his cake-walk matchup, as he's facing a Tigers lineup that has just a .285 wOBA versus right-handed pitching, which is the second-lowest mark in the league. Their 26.1% K-rate is also third-highest in baseball, so Morton has a ton of strikeout upside. He's a reliable investment in any contest and can easily finish the slate as the top starter.

Jon Gray - COL vs MIA - $7,000

It's not usually a smart idea to use a pitcher in Coors Field, but Gray surprisingly has a solid 3.88 ERA at home this year. He's still striking out over a batter per inning, with 143 K's in 142 innings, and faces the weakest offense in the league in the Marlins. Miami has just a .284 wOBA, so Gray should be able to handle them regardless of park. Gray could be a contrarian play at a low ownership, and at the very least is a value play that will save you lots of payroll for your bats. Just know that it's risky to use a starter in Colorado.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

1B - Brandon Belt - SFG at ARI (Leake) - $2,800

Belt has been extremely cold lately, but a road trip away from his pitcher-friendly home park is exactly what's needed to break his slump. Belt's .813 OPS on the road this season is over .200 points higher than his OPS at home, and he's actually on a 25 homer pace away from home. He will be in a spot to score runs leading off against Mike Leake, who has a 5.09 FIP and just gave up eight earned runs his last time out.

2B - Josh Rojas - ARI vs SFG (Samardzija) - $2,800

Rojas is another value option to choose from, as he's already batting second for Arizona after four games in the bigs. Rojas was electric in the minors this year with 20 homers and 32 steals and has a chance with the DBacks from being moved in the Zack Greinke deal. Opposing starter Jeff Samardzija has outperformed his 4.39 FIP and 4.69 SIERA and likely has some regression on the way, so consider Rojas and his teammates as a cheap stack.

3B - Manny Machado - SDP at PHI (Velasquez) - $3,700

Machado has an enticing opportunity in a hitter's park against Vince Velasquez, who has a 2.15 HR/9 and a 5.45 FIP. He is in a spot to rack up counting stats batting third for the Padres and is another guy performing much better on the road, batting .293. Despite being in a slump, Machado is a high end hitter to target.

SS - Amed Rosario - NYM at KAN (Montgomery) - $2,500

It's remarkable how cheap Rosario still is, as he's on fire right now! Rosario went 5-for-6 last night after a 4-for-5 performance on Wednesday and is now batting .360 over the last month with a .943 OPS. I'm not sure how much longer this price will last, so take advantage while you can. He has mashed left-handed pitching to the tune of a 136 wRC+ and gets a southpaw in Montgomery.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Aaron Judge - NYY vs CLE (Civale) - $3,800

Judge is a no-brainer in GPP tournaments at this price, as he's always got great odds at a homer in Yankee Stadium. He can take advantage of any mistakes made by rookie starter Aaron Civale, who could easily implode in his fourth career start. This is a chance to get an elite hitter in Judge at a lower price than he deserves.

Shohei Ohtani - LAA vs CWS (Giolito) - $3,500

While this is a tough matchup for Ohtani, he's crushed righties this year with a .311/.366/.544 line. Ohtani also has a nice power/speed combo with 15 homers and 10 steals in 84 games.
