FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (4/16/18): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

After a rough batch of weather for the Sunday slate, it'll be important to monitor the status of games throughout the day. However, there are 10 games on the main slate, meaning there are plenty of solid options to choose from.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 4/16/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

You can also read more DFS lineup picks for DraftKings and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to shoot me a message on Twitter @DanMarcus3.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Blake Snell - SP, vs. TEX ($7,100)

Snell hasn’t been perfect this season, as he has failed to record more than three strikeouts in one start while failing to complete four innings on another occasion. However, in his last start he showed his upside striking out 10 in six innings. Strikeouts are currency in DFS and Snell can rack them up in bunches. His matchup Monday comes against the Rangers who enter the game averaging just 3.25 runs per game and nearly their entire lineup has been striking out at a rate of more than 25%. Snell is still best in GPPs, but there aren’t a ton of “safe” pitching options on the slate.

Jacob deGrom - SP, vs. WAS ($9,400)

Despite the tough matchup, deGrom is the still the pitcher to use in cash game contests. He’s gone at least 5.2 innings in each of his three starts this season, and the expectation is that he'll pitch much deeper into the game, something that isn’t the case for Aaron Nola. The Nats have been a middle of the road offense to this point with much less strikeout upside than the Rangers. However, deGrom’s skills are far more stable than Snell's and he's the preferable cash game option as a result.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Carlos Santana - C/1B, @ATL ($3,700)

The price tag is higher than would be preferable on Santana but the entire Phillies lineup is priced up, and I want exposure to their matchup with Julio Teheran. Santana will get to bat from his stronger side of the plate and though the park doesn’t help left-handed power hitters, Teheran assists hitters plenty by himself as he allowed 2.25 HR/9 to left-handed hitters at home last season.

NOTE: Anthony Rizzo is priced at the minimum $2,000 and if he is in the lineup he is a must play.

Devon Travis - 2B, vs. KC ($2,200)

Travis has gotten off to an absolutely brutal start to the season as he has only one extra-base hit and has stuck out nearly 50% of his at-bats. However, he gets a matchup against Eric Skoglund, a left-handed pitcher who has shown limited ability to record outs at the major-league level. Though it’s only been 18.1 innings, he has allowed a .459 wOBA against right-handed hitters. That pairs nicely with Travis’ ability to hit left-handed pitching as he owns a career .187 ISO and 112 wRC+. At a punt price, Travis will provide salary relief if needed.

Matt Carpenter - 3B, @CHC ($3,700)

Despite just a .160 batting average, Carpenter remains a solid cash game option. He has averaged 9.6 FD points per game and gets a matchup against Tyler Chatwood, who struggles to get outs against lefties with a .328 career wOBA against them away from Coors Field. The weather won’t be ideal for hitting at Wrigley Field tomorrow, so the GPP upside is limited but Carpenter is a nice cash game option.

Trevor Story - SS, @ PIT ($3,100)

Story won’t have the benefit of Coors Field Monday but he mashed lefties even on the road last season posting a 131 wRC+ and .284 ISO. He’ll get the benefit of facing left-hander Steven Brault and is priced the lowest of any desirable shortstop on the slate. PNC deflates right-handed power greatly, but this spot in combination with the price tag is too good to pass up.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Jay Bruce - OF, vs. WAS ($3,300)

A.J. Cole has struggled mightily against left-handed batters in his short career, surrendering a .392 wOBA and 2.09 HR/9 to them. That puts a number of Mets in play for Monday’s slate but is highlighted by Bruce, who comes in as a relative bargain at his price tag.

Adam Duvall - OF, @MIL ($2,400)

Suter has continued to look relatively impressive through three starts of the 2018 campaign, but has shown fairly drastic splits when facing right-handed batters. Last season, Duvall posted a 134 wRC+ and .293 ISO against left-handed pitching and those numbers rose to a 143 wRC+ and .307 ISO when he was both on the road and facing lefties.

Also Consider: Khris Davis-OF, @CWS ($4,000)
