FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (9/2/20): Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Wednesday, second-round playoff action begins at 5 pm EST. The Dallas Stars will be facing off against the Colorado Avalanche in Game 6 of their second-round matchup. Dallas leads the series 3-2 and is on the cusp of advancing to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2008.

Remember, when looking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. Tough choices have to be made on these two game slates!

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel for September 2, 2020. The picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. For Wednesday, DraftKings will only be offering the NHL Showdown Captain Mode for contestants. Participants can learn more about the rules for NHL Showdown Captain Mode through the following link www.draftkings.com/help/rules/3/127.FanDuel provides a somewhat similar format where a participant would select a captain and four utility players under a $55,000 salary cap. DFS Forwards to Consider

Nathan MacKinnon - C,  COL vs. DAL (FD - $16,o00, DK - $17,100)

Regardless of tonight's outcome, Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon could be a strong pick under the Captain slot for DFS lineups. The Captain in DraftKings and Fanduel is a crucial pick to add to a roster since the player you draft will earn 1.5x the standard fantasy point value for each statistic. MacKinnon continued his playoff point streak to 13 games on Monday. In-Game 5, MacKinnon scored a goal on six shots. During MacKinnons 13 game point streak, he's tallied eight goals, 15 helpers, and 60 shots on goal.

Mikko Rantanen- RW, COL vs. DAL (FD - $15,000, DK - $9,200)

Like his teammate Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen has been outstanding for Colorado in this year's playoffs. Rantanen has a point streak of eight games where he has netted five goals and added eight assists. Through 13 contests, the Finnish forward has 44 shots on goal. He now sits third in the NHL with 18 playoff points, including six goals and 12 assists. He would fit nicely into a  DFS LIneup as a Flex/Utility player.

Others To Consider:

Streaky Tyler Seguin is in the midst of a hot streak. All seven of the center's playoff points have come in the last six Stars contests.

Nazem Kadri may be an option as a flex roster spot. The Avalanche center netted a goal in Game 5 versus Dallas. He now sits second in the league with eight playoff goals, only behind Vancouver's Bo Horvat who has nine goals.

Jamie Benn is also a streaky player like Stars teammate Tyler Seguin. Through five games against Colorado, Benn has scored three goals and added five assists.

Other forwards worth looking into include Gabriel Landeskog, Alexander Radulov, Joe Pavelski, Andre Burakovsky, Dennis Gurianov.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Cale Makar - D, COL vs. DAL (FD - $9,000, DK - $8,000)

If you decide on a defenseman for a flex/utility spot, 21-year-old Cale Makar is always an option. Makar had a helper in Game 5 to extend his point streak to four games. The talented player ranks third in points by a defenseman with three goals and eleven assists.

Miro Heiskanen - D,  COL vs. DAL (FD - $10,000, DK - $8,000)

Dallas blueliner Miro Heiskanen has been a bright spot for his team all season long. He is riding a six-game point streak where he has posted two goals and eight assists. The Finnish defenseman would be an excellent addition as a flex/utility player.

Other choices for Monday may include John Klingberg, Ryan Graves, Esa Lindell, Sam Girard.

DFS Goalie to Consider

Anton Khudobin- G, COL vs. DAL (DK- $9,800)

Khudobin seems likely to start in tonight's Game 6. Stars Coach Rick Bowness Game 5 decision to start Ben Bishop was a bad one. Bishop has been unfit to play for most of the playoffs and was eventually pulled due to poor play during Game 5. In relief of Bishop, Khudobin allowed two goals on 22 shots.
