FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (8/3/20): Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Andrew Lennox's top NHL DFS lineup picks on FanDuel, DraftKings for 8/3/20. Expert daily fantasy hockey advice, sleepers & player recommendations.

What a weekend we had! Monday has three scheduled Stanley Cup Qualifier games featuring Winnipeg-Calgary and Chicago-Edmonton along with three other matchups, including a round-robin contest between Dallas and Vegas.

Remember, when looking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. There are several games at 6.5, as that has become the new norm in hockey now more offense in the league than ever before.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/3/20. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @awlenn. Let's go!!

DFS Forwards to Consider

Connor McDavid - C, EDM vs. CHI (FD - $8,800, DK - $7,800)

Despite losing on the scoreboard and struggling defensively in game one, the Oilers still had some bright spots in their play against the Blackhawks. Edmonton's power play scored on three of the four opportunities. Connor McDavid was off in Game 1, but he still factored in three of the four Oilers goals with a goal and two assists. On the other hand, McDavid took a bad high sticking penalty and had a tough time in the defensive end. If a lackluster performance consists of a three-point game, what will an excellent performance bring? Look for McDavid to bounce back in game two. It seems like every time Edmonton scores, Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl are involved. If McDavid gets on the scoresheet, expect Draisaitl to do the same.

Alex Ovechkin - W, WAS vs. TB (FD - $8,700, DK - $8,200)

It would be unwise not to pick legend Alex Ovechkin for your DFS team when available. This prolific goal scorer has reached the 50 goal mark eight times in his career. He had 48 goals in 68 games before the season was cut short in March. Besides contributing an abundant amount of goals, Ovechkin loves to shoot the puck. His shooting percentage of 15.4 was the highest of his career this past regular season. Ovechkin and the Caps will be up for a tough round-robin matchup as they face the Tampa Lightning. In three regular-season games, Washington beat Tampa Bay three times with Ovechkin scoring one goal.

Also Consider:

Hurricanes Sebastian Aho would be a player to consider after a two-point game with four shots on goal against the Rangers on Saturday.

Sydney Crosby is always a safe pick. After a loss to the Habs and an anemic Penguins power play, Crosby still managed to score a goal.

A player that might bring some bang for your buck is Chicago's rookie sensation Dominik Kubalik. Two goals and three assists in your first playoff game are not too shabby.

Third and fourth lines play a crucial role in the playoffs. Dallas Stars veteran Corey Perry had a tough season and slowed down quite a bit these last few years. This Stanley Cup winner is no longer a first or second-line player, but he has scored some huge playoff goals in his career.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Kris Letang - D, PIT vs. MON (FD - $6,800, DK - $6,800)

If the Penguins bounce back against the Canadiens, they will need offensive production from their defenseman. Letang should see a significant amount of powerplay time. Letang had 32 minutes of ice time in Game 1. He had six shots on goal. It's only a matter of time before Letang breaks out in this series.

Shea Weber - D, PIT vs MON (FD - $5,000, DK - $5,200)

Webber will log a ton of minutes in game two against the Penguins. In Game 1, he had 31:35 of total ice time. With a booming shot from the point, Weber had three shots on goal on Saturday. Webber's playing career in Montreal has been plagued with injury. This regular season was a different story as he played in 65 games producing 36 points.

Shea Theodore finished the last ten regular-season games with five goals and two assists.

Other choices for Monday may include Victor Hedman (if available), Mark Giordano, and John Klingberg.

DFS Goalie to Consider

Braydon Holtby - G, WAS vs TB (FD - $8,600, DK - $7,600)

Holtby has a lot to prove in this year's playoffs after being outplayed this season by Ilya Samsonov. Due to an injury, Samsonov will be unavailable. With the injury to Samsonov, Holtby will be relied on heavily throughout the postseason. Holtby's play was impressive against Tampa Bay during the regular season with two wins and posting an excellent 1.95 GAA, and.930 save percentage.

It may be worth taking a look at David Rittich of the Calgary Flames. Winnipeg's top two offensive threats were injured in game one against the Flames. If Mark Scheifele and Patrick Laine are unavailable, Winnipeg is going to have a tough time producing any offense whatsoever, which should mean an easy win for Rittich and the Flames.
