Eric Decker was certainly a product of his environment in 2015. His undeniable chemistry with quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick resulted in 1,027 receiving yards, 12 touchdowns, and 80 receptions in a season where Decker played all but one game. He played alongside the beast they call Brandon Marshall, forming the best wide receiver tandem in New York Jets history, the most fantasy-productive duo last season, that also might've been one of the best of all time. He played under Todd Bowles, a defensive-minded coach leading one of the top defenses in the league that kept opposing offenses off the field, for the most part. Thanks to that, Decker saw the field often, accumulating 131 targets over 15 games.
Decker's environment, however, did not define him. There is much to say about him as an individual, even if he got plenty of help from his friends along the way. In the fantasy world, Decker outperformed and produced better than the likes of Demaryius Thomas, T.Y. Hilton, and Jeremy Maclin. The Jets success also relied heavily on Decker as the wide receiver caught nine touchdowns in New York victories, and only three in their losses. He scored six touchdowns when the Jets trailed; three when tied and three when ahead. He was the go-to red zone option, scoring ten of his 12 touchdowns inside the 20 yard line. Oh, and remember his game winning touchdown in overtime against the New England Patriots that set the Jets up to clinch a playoff berth? Before they choked. Again.
There is plenty to look forward to with Decker in 2016. He undoubtedly deserves a keeper-consideration in dynasty leagues and should be one of the top receivers drafted, especially with the kind of offense that Chan Gailey runs and the help of Brandon Marshall on the other side of the field.
