Hey, RotoBallers! I want to introduce myself formally. My name is Jon Irvin. Some of you may know me from the Discord channels, and you know I love breaking down DFS slates, especially in the MLB and NHL. I enjoy deep dumpster diving, so to speak, and look forward to helping find the low-owned, overlooked, and unwanted plays.

I predominantly play on DraftKings, so some of my picks are more tailored to their point/price system, but a good spot is a good spot regardless of platform.

Today's DFS content will be for the main slate for both DraftKings and FanDuel for Monday, December 23rd, 2024, at 7:00 PM EDT. Today, we have a huge 11-game slate filled with plenty of avenues to the top.

DraftKings and FanDuel NHL DFS Picks: First Look Stats

This looks at the average between the L25 and L10, weighing the L10 heavier to help find certain positive or negative trends. 

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks

Value in net is key on DK with a three-point bonus at the 35-save mark. We can afford to give up an extra goal or two if our goalie can see a steady shot volume against him. Those extra few hundred can get us those top-line forwards.

Jake Oettinger - DK $7.8K || FD $7.7K

Opponent - Utah Hockey Club

Anytime we can get Oett under 8k is a win in my book. Utah has decent shot volume, averaging over 28 SF/60 yet yields lower than average HDCF. Assuming less dangerous attempts are easier to save, Jake should be in line for a good supply of softer shots.

Others to consider:  Charlie Lindgren (DK $7.5K || FD $7.4K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks

JT Miller - DK $5.5K || FD $6.2K 

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

Miller and the other boys in Vancouver haven't looked the same since last year. The potential is there and now the prices are finally dropping. A perennial 6k top center, Miller is due for a breakout sooner than later and faces an attack-able foe in San Jose tonight.

Others to consider:   Pierre-Luc Dubois (DK $3.7K || FD $5.9K )

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks

Aliaksei Protas - DK $3.5K || FD $5.8K 

Opponent - Boston Bruins

Protas has been a force these past few weeks, giving the Capitals a much-needed boost with Ovie on the mend. Averaging nearly 2 points a game over his L15 is unheard of for a player this cheap. Going into Boston on a B2B is always tough but this team on a streak is so let's strike while the iron is hot.

Others to consider:  Pavel Dorofeyev (DK $4.8K || FD $6.3K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks

When selecting defensemen, especially on DK, I tend to find players with a high chance at both blocks and shots and not concentrate so much on point dependency.

 Brayden McNabb - DK $3.4K || FD $4.4K

Opponent - Anaheim Ducks

Brayden has been providing us with a reliable floor in both minutes and production. Not one for collecting points, McNabb flirts with the block bonus nightly which is what we want in a value blueliner.

Others to consider:  Cam York (DK $3.5K || FD $4.5K)
