DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (5/14/22): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

CJ Cron - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on May 14th, 2022. Kyle Ringstad's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

We have a large nine-gamer on tap in the MLB tonight, and it's a weird one with no clear-cut "stud" starting pitchers and a few subpar offenses in Coors Field. Of course, that Royals-Rockies affair still holds the highest implied total on the slate at a whopping 10.5 runs, so it's something we have to at least think about. The Astros, Yankees, Guardians, and Dodgers all hold implied totals at 4.8 runs or higher, while the Mariners, Mets, Cubs, Phillies, and Nationals are all projecting for less than 4.2 runs tonight. Let's just get to it, shall we?

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for Fanduel and DraftKings on 5/14/2022, with the main slate locking at 7:05 ET. The lineup will range from some elite players to mid-priced options, and value plays.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Cristian Javier - P, HOU vs. WAS ($9,400 DK, $8,300 FD)

It feels pretty weird to be recommending Cristian Javier as the "stud" pitcher to get to tonight, but here we are. Javier has rotated as a multi-inning reliever and a starter this year, posting an incredible 0.83 ERA (2.97 xERA) and a 0.78 WHIP over 21 and 2/3 innings pitched. He'll be making his third start tonight against the light-hitting Nationals, and we can expect at least five innings out of the 'Stros pitcher as he went at least that far in his prior two times starting. Javier has been very consistent this season and some of his metrics make you do a double-take - his .196 xBA ranks in the 90th percentile and his 30.9% K% is bordering on "elite" territory. He's going to rack up a valuable DFS score in the right spots, and this is one of them. The Nationals' lineup has exceeded expectations to this point, but they're still not a team we're shying away from and they hold a low 4.1-run implied total for tonight.

German Marquez - P, COL vs. KCR ($6,600 DK, $6,500 FD)

Marquez has gotten rocked this season, posting an ugly 6.47 ERA to go along with a 1.69 WHIP, six homers allowed, and lots of hard contact permitted. However, we have to remember that he pitches in Coors Field for roughly half of his starts, which is bound to inflate anyone's ERA. He's also holding a 3.67 xFIP, which suggests that he has pitched much better than his current surface statistics are showing. A matchup with the Royals tonight represents the best opportunity he can ask for in his bid to post his second consecutive solid DFS output (15.5 DK points @ARI on 5/8). The Royals don't strike out a ton, but they rank in the bottom five in the league in average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, OPS, ISO, wRC, wOBA, and wRC+. Can't get much worse than that. I'm more than willing to take the gamble on Marquez in Coors against this offense.

Others to consider (FanDuel): Shane Bieber ($9,100), Chris Bassitt ($10,100), Kyle Hendricks ($7,100), Zac Gallen ($9,900), Michael Lorenzen ($7,500)

Others to consider (DraftKings): Shane Bieber ($8,800), Michael Lorenzen ($8,000), Kyle Hendricks ($7,500), Zac Gallen ($9,800), Chris Bassitt ($10,300)

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

C.J. Cron - 1B, COL vs. KCR ($5,100 DK, $4,100 FD)

Cron has slowed down quite a bit on the home run front after a torrid start, but he's still putting up productive numbers as he holds a top-tier .963 OPS, .573 xSLG, .415 wOBA. and .498 xwOBACON on the season. This game will be played in Coors Field and Cron will be facing a very vulnerable starting pitcher in Carlos Hernandez. The 25-year-old holds a 7.15 ERA (6.06 xERA), 1.90 WHIP, and a 9.3% K% over his five starts. Yikes - get to some Rockies, especially Cron.

Trea Turner - 2B/SS, LAD vs. PHI ($5,100 DK, $3,700 FD) | Better on FanDuel

Turner hasn't quite lived up to expectations as he holds a .710 OPS with one home run, 22 RBI, 15 runs scored, and five steals to this point in the season. There's still plenty of time to right the ship, though, and tonight is a solid opportunity to start making some noise. Suarez is a lot like Keuchel in that he does a solid job of limiting hard contact, but he struggles in just about every other metric. He doesn't strike anyone out and his xERA, xBA, xSLG, and xwOBA all rank in the bottom 32nd-percentile or worse.

Josh Donaldson - 3B, NYY vs. CWS ($3,900 DK, $3,000 FD)

Don't look now, but Donaldson is heating up for the Yanks. He's starting to get the barrel to the ball a lot more and the results have been favorable - he has homered in two straight contests and his xwOBA has shot past the league average in the past month or so. Keuchel has been limiting hard contact this season, but he hasn't been limiting fantasy production by any means.

Amed Rosario - SS/OF, CLE vs. MIN ($4,100 DK, $2,500 FD) | Better on FanDuel

Rosario gives you a nice value bat to plug in so you can afford to get to an elite SP and a few stud bats tonight. He is finally starting to hit as of late, hitting a scorching 9-for-18 with a triple, one RBI, and four runs scored over his last four games. He's not at all a good bet to go deep, but his chances of providing value at the top of the Guardians' lineup against Griffin Jax are pretty good.

Others to consider (FanDuel): Aledmys Diaz ($2,100), Bobby Witt Jr. ($3,200), Ryan McMahon ($3,400), Gleyber Torres ($2,400), Brendan Rodgers ($2,700), Pavin Smith ($2,500), Yuli Gurriel ($2,400)

Others to consider (DraftKings): Rhys Hoskins ($2,700), Carlos Santana ($2,400), Brendan Rodgers ($3,500), Aledmys Diaz ($3,200), Gleyber Torres ($3,800), Bobby Witt Jr. ($4,300)

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Yordan Alvarez - OF, HOU vs. WAS ($5,200 DK, $3,700 FD)

Air Yordan has homered in consecutive outings, bringing his total up to 11 for the season. Look at this man's Statcast metrics and tell me you don't want to play him against Eric Fedde (4.40 xERA, 43.3% Hard Hit %, 19.8% K%) tonight.

Max Kepler - OF, MIN vs. CLE ($3,600 DK, $2,800)

Kepler is having a great season below the surface, ranking in the 90th-percentile or better in xwOBA, xBA, and xSLG. He has five homers to go along with a solid .789 OPS, and he should hit high in the order for a surging Twins offense. Shane Bieber is usually not a pitcher we'd want to target bats against, but his velocity was way down in his last outing and he got rocked for seven earned runs over just 3 and 1/3 innings pitched.

Giancarlo Stanton - OF, NYY vs. CWS ($4,900 DK, $3,500 FD)

Judge has been getting a lot of the attention recently, but Stanton is mashing too as he has hit four bombs over his last three games and five over his last five games played. His metrics are off the charts and while Dallas Keuchel does a great job at limiting hard contact, he holds a brutal 6.86 ERA (4.43 xERA), 2.10 WHIP, and 12.1% K%. The Yankees are going to put up a crooked number tonight and Stanton will likely play a part in that.

Others to consider (FanDuel): Juan Soto ($3,800), Sam Hilliard ($2,600), David Peralta ($2,400), Michael Brantley ($2,800), Franmil Reyes ($2,700), Kyle Tucker ($3,600)

Others to consider (DraftKings): Sam Hilliard ($3,100), Franmil Reyes ($3,300), Michael Brantley ($3,800), Kyle Tucker ($4,400), Pavin Smith ($3,400)
