ANALYSIS: New York Yankees catching prospect Ben Rice is showing elite power at Double-A and could make a case to join the major league roster later this summer. Through 46 games with Double-A Somerset, the 25-year-old has posted a .249/.373/.497 line with 12 long balls, 25 RBI, and a 30:45 BB:K ratio.

Last season, Rice made his double debut and looked strong across his first 48 games at that level with a .327/.401/.648 line with 16 home runs and 48 RBI. Across a total of 94 games at Double-A, the Dartmouth product is riding an incredible .578 SLG with 28 home runs.
The former 12th-round selection is nearing a promotion to Triple-A, which opens the door for a late-season major league debut. Rice is worth stashing in AL-only leagues as he could easily take over catching duties in the Bronx, and Austin Wells and Jose Trevino have disappointed through the early part of the season with a .204 and .269 AVG, respectively.
