NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 2/27/22

We finish the weekend off with a more friendly slate compared to last night. Value spots will be easier to find as well. I will do my best to guide you through this six-game slate, starting at 1 p.m. EST with a few teams in prime matchups.

We have a handful of teams playing on the second half of back-to-backs: Pittsburgh, Rangers, Islanders and San Jose. The Blue Jackets and their league's second-worst 3.6 GA will host the Penguins, while the New York Rangers hope to bounce back against the Canucks.

DISCLOSURE: The slate may not be the same at puck drop as it is during the writeup due to COVID-19. Make sure to monitor the news feed and play at your own risk.

Vegas Odds for the Day

NHL DFS Goalies

Zach Sawchenko - DK $8.2K || FD $7.4K

Opponent - Seattle Kraken

Welcome that thing called a "Leap of Faith". We all do our research, right? Well, this is a combination of the two. Sawchenko has had very limited time in the NHL with any of the teams he has been with and it resulted in 40 total minutes in two games against the Oilers (2) and the Penguins (38). The performance against the Penguins gave more of a glimpse of his potential, however, making 20 saves on 21 shots while only conceding a goal. Yes, San Jose will be playing their second game in as many nights, but it will be at home and against the hapless Kraken. If you don't feel comfortable making the leap of faith with me, Alexandar Georgiev at $8.6K, is also a great option.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Oettinger(DK $8.5K || FD $K), Hellebuyck(DK $K || FD $7.9K), Husso(DK $8.1K || FD $K), Georgiev(DK $8K || FD $8.6K), Sorokin(DK $7.7K || FD $7.6K)

NHL DFS Centers

Sidney Crosby -DK $8K || FD $8.3K

Opponent - Columbus Blue Jackets

Captain, oh captain. Crosby gets yet another crack at the Blue Jackets who he has dominated in his career with 39 points in 31 meetings. He is also carrying the Penguins offensively right now with linemates Jake Guentzel and Bryan Rust. The Blue Jackets have the second-worst GA (3.6) and the Penguins are in desperate need to get in touch with their winnings ways. Look for the captain of the Penguins to ignite that spark. Over his last five games, he has a 2-3-5 line and 16.0 shots.

Roope Hintz - DK $6.6K || FD $K

Opponent - Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres are currently sporting the league’s third-worst defense over the last 10 games and Hintz and the rest of the top-line for the Stars are the primary producers. In the last five games, Hintz has a 1-2-3 line with 13.0 shots and 6.0 blocked shots. This is a prime matchup for him to add to those tallies.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Aho(DK $8.2K || FD $K), Draisaitl(DK $7.7K || FD $K), Malkin(DK $6.2K || FD $7.3K), Hertl(DK $5.2K || FD $6.5K), Dubois(DK $5K || FD $K), Nelson(DK $4.4K || FD $6.4K)

NHL DFS Wings

Kyle Palmieri - DK $4.7K || FD $3.8K

Opponent - Anaheim Ducks

Palmieri remains on the top-line of the Islanders and also remains under $4K in salary and for good reason. The winger along with the rest of the Islanders are doing very little offensively. Although, he is starting to show a spark again with a 4-0-4 line and 15.0 shots in his last five games. Anaheim is no fortress after their own struggles and this provides a perfect chance for Palmieri to continue his jumpstart in production.

Timo Meier - DK $7.5K || FD $8.7K

Opponent - Seattle Kraken

Meier is the best option around the $7K salary range and it is thanks to his high-shot volume which will only continue here. The winger is shooting the puck without question and he has a 2-3-5 line and 32.0 shots over his last five games. The Kraken continue to play inconsistent hockey and Meier will look to capitalize on it.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Rust(DK $8K || FD $9.4K), Tarasenko(DK $7.5K || FD $K), Pavelski(DK $7K || FD $K), Connor(DK $6.9K || FD $K), Boeser(DK $4.7K || FD $6.1K), Lee(DK $3.8K || FD $5.1K), Svechnikov(DK $2.5K || FD $K)

NHL DFS Defensemen

Adam Boqvist - DK $6.5K || FD $4.6K

Opponent - Pittsburgh Penguins

Boqvist is finally starting to see a salary increase after increased production. The defenseman has taken over for injured teammate Zach Werenski and in his two games since, Boqvist has 1.0 assists, 2.0 shots and 2.0 blocked shots. The numbers aren't great, but those were also games against Florida and Carolina. Pittsburgh has been hurting defensively and they barely escaped with a 1-0 win against the Rangers yesterday and now they will be playing on the second-half of a back-to-back against an in-form Jackets team.

Mark Giordano - DK $4.6K || FD $5.8K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

Giordano continues to be "THE cash play" when he is on the slate. The veteran defenseman is not shy taking shots and or blocking shots with 11.0 shots and 11.0 blocked shots over his last five games. He also has 2.0 goals in that span. San Jose will surely be taking their healthy amount of shots this game and Giordano and company will be forced to play defense more than anything. If a safe bet is needed, Giordano should easily block a few shots here.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Slavin(DK $6.1K || FD $K), Burns(DK $6K || FD $6.3K), Chychrun(DK $5.5K || FD $K), Hughes(DK $5K || FD $5.9K), Myers(DK $3.5K || FD $4K), Suter(DK $3.1K || FD $K)
