Daniel Vogelbach Hits On The Field Thursday

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Daniel Vogelbach (hamstring) hit on the field for the first time on Thursday since landing on the injured list. It was a nice step forward, but Vogelbach must still clear the hurdles of running and playing defense. The left-handed slugger landed on the injured list with a left hamstring strain and is expected to miss at least another month of action, which is part of the reason why Milwaukee went out and acquired left-handed hitting first baseman Rowdy Tellez from the Toronto Blue Jays this week. Vogelbach will occasionally get ahold of a ball and has seven home runs, but his .216 batting average and .323 on-base percentage leave plenty to be desired. And he might see even fewer at-bats in the second half if Tellez sticks around.
