STAR SHOOTOUT - MAIN GAMES

MORE OR LESS

Tyler Glasnow LESS THAN 8.5 STRIKEOUTS

In his eight starts, Glasnow has recorded at least nine strikeouts in five of those games. His strikeout rate of 13.7 K/9 ranks fourth among qualified pitchers. He is also going against a New York Mets lineup that has a road strikeout rate of 20.8%, third lowest in MLB.

Corey Kluber LESS THAN 5.5 STRIKEOUTS

While Kluber has made positive strides in recent starts for the Yankees, striking out 16 in his past two starts, he faces a Baltimore Orioles lineup that has a lower-than-average (22.0%) home strikeout rate and has recorded five strikeouts or less in five of seven starts.

David Peterson MORE THAN 5.5 STRIKEOUTS

The Mets southpaw has seen his strikeout rate jump in his second season but has managed six or more strikeouts in two of his six starts. He does get the benefit of going against a Tampa Bay Rays lineup that has the highest home strikeout rate (30.1%) in MLB.

Bo Bichette MORE THAN 1.5 RUNS + RBI

Home-road splits can make a big difference and Toronto’s star shortstop is crushing it in Dunedin this year, hitting .371 with a 1.151 OPS. In 11 home games, he has 27 combined runs plus RBI so it is not unreasonable to expect multiple from Bichette in Friday’s game against the Phillies with Vince Velasquez on the mound.

MORE OR LESS

Drew Smyly LESS THAN 5.5 STRIKEOUTS

It has been a rough start to his Braves tenure for the veteran lefty, who did strike out eight in his first start but has 14 strikeouts total in four starts since. He is matched up against a Brewers lineup with a higher-than-average home strikeout rate (26.1%) but, based on recent results, it is hard to trust Smyly to get deep enough into the game.

Frankie Montas LESS THAN 5.5 STRIKEOUTS

The A’s starter has six or more strikeouts in two of seven starts this season and goes against a Minnesota Twins lineup with a lower-than-average home strikeout rate (22.8%).

German Marquez MORE THAN 4.5 STRIKEOUTS

It is never easy as a starting pitcher in Colorado and that can make it difficult to perform consistently but Marquez does have at least five strikeouts in six of his past seven starts. He faces a Cincinnati Reds lineup with a lower-than-average road strikeout rate (22.5%) but as long as Marquez doesn’t get knocked out early, he should miss enough bats to get at least five strikeouts.

MORE OR LESS

Joe Musgrove LESS THAN 7.5 STRIKEOUTS

After some big strikeout numbers early, the Padres starter has a total of 17 strikeouts in his past three starts. Even going against a St. Louis Cardinals lineup with a higher-than-average road strikeout rate (25.2%), Musgrove is not a sure thing to cover this big number.

Clayton Kershaw MORE THAN 6.5 STRIKEOUTS

While the veteran Dodgers ace remains very effective he is not as overpowering at this point in his career. That doesn’t mean he can’t miss bats but he does have seven or more strikeouts in four of his eight starts. He does, however, get the benefit of facing a Miami Marlins lineup with a 26.7% road strikeout rate, the fourth highest rate in MLB.

Aaron Civale MORE THAN 16.5 MKF FANTASY POINTS

When it comes to pichers and MKF Fantasy points, scoring is as follows:

Outs and strikeouts are worth one point. Earned runs against are -3 points.

In his seven starts this season, Civale has at least 17 MKF fantasy points in four of them and he faces a Seattle Mariners lineup that has the worst home production in MLB according to wOBA and wRC+.
