Jorge Soler Homers, Walks Twice On Opening Day
Jorge Soler had a strong 2021 debut in the team's 14-10 win over the Texas Rangers. Soler went 2-for-2 with a home run, two walks, two runs and two RBI. He hit in the fifth spot in the lineup for the game, a great spot to be behind star catcher Salvador Perez. Soler is an elite power hitter who has a chance to be amongst the American League leaders in home runs if he stays healthy. Last year, he had some major strikeout problems as his strikeout rate increased from 26.2% in 2019 to 34.5% in 2020. However, he still remained elite in hard-hit rate (51.1%) and barrel rate (18.9%) in 2020. Even if the strikeout woes continue, he should still produce gaudy power numbers.
