PGA DFS: DraftKings Value Plays - Waste Management Phoenix Open

Please enjoy this RotoBaller PGA Premium article free for a limited time.

Hello RotoBallers and thanks for joining me for the Waste Management Phoenix Open! My name is Tommy Bell, and in this article you will find my favorite DraftKings DFS value plays for this week's PGA tournament. You can find me on Twitter for all things PGA banter @BellRoto. Give me a follow!

It can be tough to define "value" and that task is made tough because the makeup of each PGA slate is different, which makes it difficult to put a concrete DFS price on what exactly "value" is. So, this article will regularly include plays that are obviously great salary savers, but may also include plays that are "underpriced" or stick out as a great value when compared to their form, course history, or other players in the field.

Waste Management Phoenix Open: Value Play Notes

There are a few awesome things about this tournament. For one, we get a pretty enticing, full field compared to some of the other early-season competitions. Secondly, the infamous par 3, 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale is electrifying! Surely that needs no further explanation. Lastly, the end of this tournament always turns out being our appetizer for the big game coming up on Sunday. What could be better than winning a little PGA DFS cash right before you stuff yourself full of pizza, wings, dips, and beverages while watching Patrick Mahomes sling a handful of touchdowns? That's why the Waste Management Phoenix Open is one of my favorite tournaments, and certainly my favorite pre-Masters tournament, of the year.

You can find out who the smart money is on by checking out Spencer Aguiar's PGA DFS: Vegas Report every week. And be sure to also read all of our other top-notch weekly PGA DFS and betting articles to help you win big!

Sungjae Im - DraftKings: $8,800

For my one higher priced "value" play, I have to go with the young South Korean phenom. He's started out the season red hot, peppering the top of the leaderboard on multiple occasions and then shooting himself in the foot with poor finishes on Sundays. The great thing about Im's skill ceiling is that when he gets hot, it doesn't matter who's in the field. He's one of the best ball strikers on tour, and if putts start to drop at TPC Scottsdale he can run away with this thing. Considering his impressive start to the year, his obvious upside, and his T-7 at this event last year, this price is simply too low.

Matthew Wolff - DraftKings: $8,000

The former Oklahoma State Cowboy is just plain fun to roster in DFS. He hits the ball a country mile, and this course has very little boundaries that could potentially penalize a wayward drive. Wolff should be able to unleash on most holes, and set up short wedge shots in for birdie opportunities. As a young, unique golfer in the new wave of personalities entering the tour, this environment sets up as a great place for Wolff to play. DK will raise this price soon, so get on him at 8k while you can.

Daniel Berger - DraftKings: $7,800

Berger was a birdie machine a couple of weeks ago at The American Express, and it reminded me of not so long ago when he was one of the up-and-coming stars of the sport. After a really good looking Fall swing and a solid start to this new season, I'm ready to get back on board this train. Berger is still under the radar enough that he won't garner much ownership, especially since he was cut from this event last year in what began a rough 2019. I have a feeling Berger is out to show the world that the best is yet to come. This is a good mid-range price tag to take a GPP gamble on.

Adam Hadwin - DraftKings: $7,200

Hadwin's overall game is so fun to watch when he's on. For a short bit last year, he had one of the most impressive ball striking stretches we've ever seen. The birdies flow quickly when Hadwin gets comfortable, and they don't tend to stop. He's had success at the Waste Management Open over the past handful of years (four made cuts and a couple of top 20s), and this is a price point that makes me drool when we think of Hadwin's tournament upside. Load him up!

Nick Taylor - DraftKings: $6,500

Here's my long shot, dart throw for you to end this piece. Nick Taylor is a nice little Canadian player who gained traction earlier this month before a miserable day put a sour taste in DFS owners' mouths. I'm going to try to stay away from being short-sighted and trust that the consistent player who logged a T-10 at the Safeway Open in September and just missed this cut last year is only getting better. You really only need a made cut here
