Welcome to Wednesday baseball on DraftKings! We're going to be looking at this two-game Wils-card/divisional slate with a whole bevy of options to consider. Every pitcher is good and they're all facing off with great offenses.
Let's dive in and find a top play at each position!
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 10/2/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. Be sure to also check out all the MLB Rosters for today's slate. DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers
Sean Manaea - OAK vs. TB - $7,800
The Athletics are -140 favorites here, with Sean Manaea and Charlie Morton taking the mound. The Rays aren’t great against lefties, ranking 24th in baseball with a .303 team wOBA and 24% strikeout rate. Manaea has been excellent since returning from injury and will have no problem going over 100 pitches if he’s dominating. He strikes out a batter per inning and as held both righties and lefties to a sub .280 wOBA against. This is playoff baseball and every team can hit, so we’re always playing with fire.
Charlie Morton - TB @ OAK - $9,000
Charlie Morton is more expensive as the underdog, though he may be a bit safer. The Athletics are a terrible lineup to face at home, but Morton has what it takes. He strikes out 10 batters per nine and has sported a .275 wOBA and 32% hard contact rate. If Morton can keep the ball in the ballpark, I expect a very low-scoring game that’s decided late. These are my top two pitchers between the two games.
DraftKings DFS Infielders
Yadier Molina - STL @ ATL (Keuchel) - $4,400
Yadier Molina seems to age at a different rate than the rest of baseball. Through tough injuries, Molina continues his legacy as one of the greatest catchers in history. He’s having a power surge at age 37, hitting 20,18, and 10 the last three seasons. That’s after four years of single-digit home run production. He’s better against lefties and we know Keuchel is susceptible. Molina is my favorite catcher on the board.
Paul Goldschmidt - STL @ ATL (Keuchel) - $4,800
We’ll double down with the Cardinals and Paul Goldschmidt here. It comes down to Freeman and Goldy here, and you can’t go wrong. Miles Mikolas is on the same level as Keuchel. Good against one side of the plate and bad against the other. Keuchel has given up a .351 wOBA to righties and a higher HR/9 rate than he ever has. Paul Goldschmidt is a lefty killer, posting a .426 wOBA dating back to last season. It’s a coin flip here, but I’ll go Goldy.
Ozzie Albies - ATL vs. STL (Mikolas) - $4,800
Albies will be in the heart of the order and makes for a great play against Miles Mikolas. Mikolas is not a starting-caliber ace, but it’s what the Cardinals are working with. He’s allowed a .331 wOBA to lefties on the season with 11 homers in 80 innings of work. Albies is a switch-hitter, so he’ll never be on the wrong side of a platoon. He’s a solid option in both cash games and tournaments.
Yandy Diaz - TBR @ OAK (Manaea) - $4,400
If I’m going to target Sean Manaea, it’s with a righty that has a lot of power. Yandy Diaz just returned from injury, but he was sporting a .408 wOBA against lefties before going out. He’s supposedly 100% and ready to go for the playoffs. I don’t expect him to be highly owned and Diaz has plenty of upside.
Marcell Ozuna - STL @ ATL (Keuchel) - $4,600
Ozuna has been terrible this season, but I love how the Cardinals are sticking with him in the middle of the order. Ozuna has always demolished lefties and his peripherals point to a lot of bad luck. If that luck and right ship, Ozuna will be low-owner and faces off with a lefty in Keuchel that has serious power issues. Ozuna can connect on a pitch or two and change this slate entirely.
