DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (9/29/19): MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on September 29th, 2019. Austyn Varney's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

I know, it's Sunday and you have football to watch. Just give me one day. The games don't start until 3:05, so once those NFL rosters start going down the drain you can pivot to MLB. It's a fun slate, with plenty of great pitching and plenty of the opposite. We have five or six offenses that could easily put up seven-plus runs and break the slate.

Let's dive in and find a top play at each position!

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/29/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. Be sure to also check out all the MLB Rosters for today's slate. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too.

DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers

Eduardo Rodriguez - BOS vs. BAL - $10,300

Well, it's the last game of the season in the MLB, so we have to be careful at pitcher. I really don't think the Astros let Gerrit Cole run over 100 pitches. If you do, he's the best play on the slate and it's not close. The Red Sox are out of contention, so they'll be looking to close the season on a good note. They'll get a great chance to, facing off with the lifeless Orioles at home in Fenway. Rodriguez has been great this season, holding both lefties and righties to a sub .290 wOBA on the season. He gives you a nice discount off the expensive arms and has as much upside as anybody if my assumptions of a pitch count ring true.

Jack Flaherty - STL vs. CHC - $9,800

The Cubs seem to have given up. Rizzo is out for the season, they're out of the playoffs, and the future of the team is up in the air. The Cubs can't wait for this season to be over. Jack Flaherty just dominated these guys a week ago and now gets them at home. His price is ultra fair on DraftKings, and I was expecting him to be priced as a top-five SP on this slate. The Cubs strikeout a lot and Flaherty has been over a K per inning. Flaherty is an elite SP1 or SP2.

DraftKings DFS Infielders

Yasmani Grandal - MIL @ COL (Hoffman) - $4,900

We won't harp on Coors Field too much, but it has to be mentioned. You can play both of these lineups and everyone in them. Jeff Hoffman has been terrible at home this season, allowing over two home runs per nine innings and a .352 wOBA. Yasmani Grandal has been a great hitter on this season, hitting 27 home runs and posting a .354 wOBA against righties. The Brewers aren't overly expensive either, and they can easily put up double-digit runs. If you can fit in Grandal, he's the best catcher on the board.

Paul Goldschmidt - STL vs. CHC (Holland) - $4,200

As I said, I don't think the Cubs have much life in them. That certainly stands true for a bullpen that is the reason this team will miss the playoffs. They'll be ask to relieve Derek Holland, who's a terrible left-handed pitcher that has home run issues. Against righties, Holland has given up a whopping .395 wOBA and 18 home runs through just 55 innings of work. The Cardinals hold an implied total over five runs and Goldschmidt is the best hitter in the lineup against lefties.

Whit Merrifield - KC vs. MIN (Perez) - $4,400

Martin Perez is a guy you should be targeting with righties. On the season, Perez has allowed a .353 wOBA to righties and 1.52 HR/9. The Royals aren't the scariest lineup, but they are much better against lefties and you know where the production is coming from. Whit Merrifield has been consistent all season long, and

Tommy Edman - STL vs. CHC (Holland) - $5,200

We've already looked at Paul Goldschmidt at first base, and this Cardinals lineup may be my favorite stack outside of Coors Field. Derek Holland is beyond bad against lefties (.394 wOBA) and this Cardinals team has some guys that can mash right-handers. Tommy Edman, a switch-hitter, has been better against lefties with a .356 wOBA and more power. The price is up there on Edman, but third base is weak and I love getting exposure to the Cardinals today.

Francisco Lindor - CLE @ WAS (Ross) - $4,600

There isn't a clear way to go at shortstop, but we have a lot of options with a similar floor and ceiling. Lindor has always been better against righties, and he's sported a .385 wOBA since last season. Joe Ross stinks, giving up a .362 wOBA to lefties and being one of the worst pitchers in baseball at holding runners. If Lindor is on first base with Ross on the mound, I fully expect him to steal second. That opens up a ton of upside and I doubt Lindor is over 10% owned.

DraftKings DFS Outfielders

Charlie Blackmon - COL vs. MIL (Houser) - $5,800

We have to touch on at least one Rockies bat here against Adrian Houser. Houser is already terrible against lefties (.380 wOBA allowed) and now he heads into Coors Field. This is the last game of the season for Colorado, and they'll want to have some fun for the home fans. I expect the over to hit in this game and for both offenses to put up close to double-digit runs. Blackmon is ridiuclous at home, sporting a .487 wOBA with as much power as anybody in baseball. You're going to pay for him, but Blackmon is a top bat on this slate.

Jorge Soler - KC vs. MIN (Perez) - $4,800

We've touched on Whit Merrifield, who's more of the safer option against Martin Perez. Jorge Soler is at 47 home runs and he'll look to close off the season and get up to 48. He has a great shot to do so, facing off with one of the worst lefties in the league in terms of giving up home runs. Perez and his 1.58 HR/9 is tasty, and the swing of Soler will be waiting. Soler can hit it out of any ballpark, proved bu him having more of his home runs at home in the spacious Kauffman Stadium.

Things change quickly as lineups come out. If you have any questions, hit me up on Twitter @VarneyDFS and I'd be more than happy to help.
