The San Francisco 49ers exercised their fifth-year option on defensive end DeForest Buckner on Wednesday. The 2018 Pro Bowler was taken in the first round as the No. 7 pick in 2017 and has started all 47 games he's appeared in over three seasons. Buckner has 215 tackles, 21 sacks, eight passes defensed, three fumble recoveries and one forced fumble in that time. He had 67 tackles, a career-high 12 sacks, three passes defensed and a fumble recovery last season. Buckner will be a key guy in the team's quest to boost their pass rush in 2019.
