Edwin Encarnacion Pops First Dinger In Home Opener
Edwin Encarnacion showed off his patented parrot home run trot for the first time in front of the hometown crowd. The veteran launched a solo shot off of Chris Sale in the third inning as he finished the night going 2-for-4. Encarnacion was also hit in the hand with a pitch in the sixth inning, but appeared to be fine and remained in the game. He should continue to produce in the middle of a seemingly potent Mariners lineup this season, but his year-end numbers may not look as sexy as the once did a few years ago.
