Oakland Athletics outfielder Stephen Piscotty is not in the lineup because he is with his family, as his mother passed away Sunday evening. His mother, Gretchen Piscotty, passed away roughly a year after being diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. This is tragic news for Piscotty and was one of the reasons he was thankful for a trade from the Cardinals to the Athletics to be near his mom. Manager Bob Melvin believes Piscotty could be back on Tuesday. Also, it is likely Piscotty will take bereavement leave at a later date. On the year, he has a .243 average with two homers, 12 runs and 13 RBI. Piscotty once had a lot of promise, but his family matters could affect his current production. Take a moment to send prayers to Piscotty and his family.--Ellis Canady - RotoBaller
