Tomas Satoransky (PG, WAS) - Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add In Standard Leagues

OWNED IN: 11% of leagues

ANALYSIS: In his second season with the Washington Wizards, point guard Tomas Satoransky is making strides in playing time and the results are showing. The 26-year-old averaged 12.6 minutes per game in 57 games last season, but has gone at least 22 in each of the past three. This past Friday, the Czech native scored a career-high 17 points with four rebounds, four assists and a steal in 23 minutes of action. Satoransky’s opportunity came as John Wall deals with a knee injury, which promoted the former to backup point guard behind Tim Frazier. He’s got good size, being 6-foot-7, while also being extremely efficient from the field, shooting a team-high 63.6 percent.

Of course, the big dilemma with picking Satoransky up from the waiver wire will be what happens when Wall inevitably returns in two weeks. Those looking for a quick fix should dismiss any worries, as Satoransky figures to see consistent playing time until then. While he has shown that with his size and shooting ability he can produce at a solid rate, however, his time seeing consistent minutes could come to an end as soon as Wall returns. Those in need of a point guard shouldn’t see that as a risk in the mean time. Fantasy users who are considering dropping a player seeing consistent minutes to pick Satoransky up, however, should not act swiftly. It’s simply too risky to do so without knowing what the future holds for him.
