It was a crazy Week 2 around the NFL. Numerous players emerged or regressed, and we saw plenty of injuries at the tight end position. So here we are, looking to analyze statistics feverishly to justify an addition to our fantasy football teams.
Following this past week's games, here is a list of tight ends you should consider adding to your roster.

Week 3 Waiver Wire - Tight Ends
Jason Witten (TE, DAL)
Old man Witten is at it again and taking it back a decade when he was a top rated tight end. J Witt is doing his thing and doing it really well so far to start this season. In two games this far, Witten already had 17 catches for 156 yards and two touchdowns. He is also leading the Dallas Cowboys in targets with 22.
Quarterback Dak Prescott is leaning heavily on Witten in the passing game and using him as a safety net over the middle since at times he is reluctant to throw the deep ball. He also continues to find him in the red-zone consistently thus far. If these numbers keep up, we can potentially see a 100 catch and 1000 yard receiving season for the grizzled veteran. Do the ole' pick him up and plug him in move until he proves otherwise.
Evan Engram (TE, NYG)
We are all aware of the struggles the Giants offensive line has and their inability to protect quarterback Eli Manning. This normally would be a bad news for fantasy football points to pass catchers, but an argument can be made on the contrary for the rookie tight end.
With Eli consistently under duress, he needs to unload the ball quickly. Evan Engram has been lining up in the slot most snaps and has been his safety valve thus far, especially when he is getting rushed quickly. He is a big target at 6'3" and has 4.42 40 yard dash speed. His physical abilities could play a positive role in his deep threat capability because he will be able to outrun safeties and in most cases cornerbacks (which in turn equals more fantasy football points). He even hauled in one touchdown in Week 2, and if it weren't for another dropped pass on the 2 yard line he might have gotten another one. He has eight receptions in two games thus far, but look for that number to increase as the Giants offensive line improves and Eli gets even more of a rhythm with the young rook.
Eric Ebron (TE, DET)
Is this the year Eric Ebron finally lives up to the hype? After being the 10th overall pick for the Detroit Lions in the 2014 draft, Ebron has never justified a steady fantasy football value. After a lackluster Week 1 with two catches for only nine yards, Double E posted five catches for 42 yards and a touchdown against a solid New York Giants defense.
Could this be a flash in the pan? Perhaps, but if you picked Jimmy Graham or Greg Olsen in your draft it might be worth taking a shot by backing them up with a guy like Ebron. The ceiling is high and with a solid performance in Week 2, you wouldn't have much to lose by taking the chance.
