It's Week 19. New York is getting ready for another heat wave - oh, I'm sorry, that's just the intensity of the anger towards Joe Girardi for reneging on his promise to play Alex Rodriguez during the last week of his career. Anyway, Girardi, a former catcher hasn't wilted under the heat.

I wish I could say the same for this group of catchers. There are only two with an average over .300 and not a single one has reached 20 homers. Hopefully, the cooler September weather will bring some of them back to life. We'll keep your lineup from melting from the heat too. As always, our cutoff is sub-70% ownership in Fleaflicker.

Week 19 Waiver Wire Catchers

Yadier Molina (STL) 68% - Molina is a good example of how the long baseball season can affect ownership. He started off like a house on fire, but perhaps the wear and tear finally caught up to him. He's nudging that batting average back up towards .280 and beyond. One knock against Yadi is his power or lack thereof. He did bash two long balls in his last three games, so it might be best to grab him while he's hot.

Matt Wieters (BAL) 63% - One of the reasons behind Wieters' dropping numbers is his August struggles. So far he's hitting .192 with only one homer, which admittedly is not the way to get people to line up to grab you off the waiver wire. Still, Wieters has too much upside and he's hitting in a loaded lineup. You could do a lot worse than Wieters for a stretch run.

Evan Gattis (HOU) 63% - Yes, it's true that the hulking slugger has been stuck on 17 homers for a while, but he's actually been contributing with the bat, getting at least one hit in six of his games in August. He'll get back on track with the power and you can reap the benefits of that by adding him. With the dearth of homers from the catching position, how can you not take the chance?

Yasmani Grandal (LAD) 56% - What did I say? Grandal got picked up by a bunch of people over the past week. His batting average may be low but he's tied with Wilson Ramos for the most homers among all catchers, passing by Gattis. We're getting closer to the stretch run and having a No. 2 catcher who can hit the long ball will help you as you try to move up the standings. He also saw a modest nine-game hit streak end Wednesday. Pick him up.

Cameron Rupp (PHI) 24% - Rupp has cooled off over the past several games, but he did hit three homers early on in August. If you want some pop and someone's already swooped in and grabbed Grandal, it couldn't hurt to make Rupp your No. 2 catcher. He's given his owners a bunch of points in August and you can't be too choosy with this catching crop, especially when digging for a second one. Grab him.

Sandy Leon (BOS) 23% - He just keeps hitting. While Leon has fallen off his torrid pace, he's still hitting .304 for the month of August and has even hit another homer. He's not going to help you in the power category, but if you want help with OBP, he's one of the leaders among catchers. He'd be a perfect No. 2 to help with that area. If anything, he'd give you another reason to follow the amazing hitting attack that is the Boston Red Sox.
