Who's on First in Boston? Hanley Ramirez Is, That's Who

When discussing Clay Buchholz, I alluded to former Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington's very bad decision of having a 2015 pitching rotation with no aces. His having Hanley Ramirez play left field is probably Bad Idea 1A. In his short stint of patrolling the outfield, Ramirez made former Boston left fielders like Mike Greenwell look like Gold Glove winners. Not surprisingly, he struggled in all facets of the game, probably due to learning a new position with a VERY tricky outfield wall known as the Green Monster. As a result of that and a shoulder injury that curtailed his season, he had some of the lowest numbers of his career. Apparently his shoulder is fine now and he's moving on to another position at first base. The transition should be much easier and he'll likely rebound. He's only 32 and our writers are also counting on a much better '16 - they have him between picks No. 107 and No. 153. While he's not first-round material, he can certainly reward those who draft him with a .300 season with around 20 homers and possibly 90 RBIs. Han-Ram will most likely find comfort at first base this season.
