Wily Peralta (SP, MIL) - 2015 Fantasy Baseball Sleeper

BALLER MOVE: Draft Target Mid-Late Rounds in All Leagues

ANALYSIS: Right-handed pitcher Wily Peralta is entering his third full season in the big leagues with the Brewers and currently has an ADP of 266. His low draft day price can return a nice fantasy baseball profit, and makes him an undervalued starting pitcher.

Peralta, 25, is coming off a season where he quietly won a career high 17 games for the Brew Crew and his ERA improved from 4.37 in 2013 to 3.53 last year. Still not convinced? Let's delve a little deeper into the stats then. Over 198.2 IP last season Peralta turned in a 107 ERA+, meaning he was 7% better than league average last season while taking park factors into account among other things.

Speaking of park factors, while the Brewers do play half of their games at hitter friendly Miller Park, Peralta negates this hitter's complex through the heavy sinker he features. Peralta ranked sixth in all of MLB last season as he maintained a fantastic 56.68% ground ball rate. On top of this, he throws hard as he averaged nearly 96 MPH (95.8) with his fastball last season, so the stuff is there for him to dominate.

Peralta also improved his control last year as well, as his BB/9 decreased from 3.6 in 2013 to 2.8 in 2014. Furthermore, with pitch framing maestro Jonathan Lucroy catching him during his starts, there is even more reason to expect this positive trend to continue.

Peralta has a ton of natural ability. Last year was a big step for him in terms of tapping into it, but 2015 can be an even bigger year for him. Look for him to make some serious strides towards becoming a premier pitcher in the National League this coming season.
