Adam Lind (1B / DH, TOR) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in AL-Only / Deeper Leagues

ANALYSIS: Edwin Encarnacion is headed to the DL with his strained quadriceps, and his estimated two-to-four week absence may be key to any playoff hopes that the Jays have. Adam Lind, Munenori Kawasaki and Juan Francisco will all be important in filling the holes left by both Brett Lawrie and Encarnacion. While Lind has his limitations both defensively and on the base paths, it is clear that he rakes against RHP. His overall line of 30 R, 57 H, 4 HR, 27 RBI, .328 AVG includes a paltry 2 for 28 vs LHP, however.

As Lind should be in line for increased playing time, especially against LHP, he needs to change that line for the better, and his been added to our list of sleepers for fantasy baseball with anticipation of the increased ABs. Over his career, Lind does have 21 HRs and a .214 average, lending us to believe that he may not actually be this bad vs LHP.  Due to his likely increase in playing time, with approximately 75% of at bats usually coming vs RHP, consideration of an add in deeper leagues and a possible injury replacement for Votto or Encarnacion in standard leagues is suggested. He is still only owned in 35% of Yahoo leagues, and may be able to help your fantasy teams.
