2013 Fantasy Football Sleepers – Wide Receivers
Following the first three weeks of NFL preseason play, here are three solid wide receiver sleepers to consider on fantasy football draft day. We’ve put these WRs in order of their potential fantasy return, based on your draft-day investment and their current ADPs.
Josh Gordon (WR, Cleveland Browns) - Gordon will enter the 2013 NFL season as the #1 receiver in Cleveland, on a sneakily improved offense under Norv Turner. He has big play ability, as evidenced by his 16.1 yards per reception average as as rookie in 2012. Because he will be starting the season with a 2-game suspension, Gordon's ADP has slipped to around 92, which is making him draft day steal. Gordon will be targeted often in the much-improved Cleveland passing attack, and should be targeted by you on draft day as a WR2 with WR1 upside. Don't sleep on this fantasy football sleeper during your drafts in 2013.
Chris Givens (WR, St. Louis Rams) - Givens will enter the 2013 NFL season as the #1 receiver in St. Louis. After a breakout rookie campaign in 2013, the arrow is pointing straight upwards for Givens this season. He's been the most consistent receiver for the Rams in the preseason, and should be getting a lot of receiving targets as both a mid-range and deep-threat speedster (ridiculous 4.35 in the 40-yard dash). He has big play ability, averaging 16.6 yards per reception last year in just his rookie season. Givens should be targeted as a WR3 in fantasy drafts, with upside for WR2 production if Bradford can get him the pigskin. With an ADP around 98, he's a legitimate sleeper and breakout candidate for your fantasy football team in 2013.
Golden Tate (WR, Seattle Seahawks) - With the injuries to Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice, Tate will step in as the #1 wide receiver in Seattle. Seattle has a strong offense, and a great quarterback in Russell Wilson, which should yield plenty of opportunity and passing targets for Tate, especially early in the NFL season. Tate saw his yards per reception average increase to 15.3 last year, and he has extra motivation to perform in a contract year. He's always been regarded a top-level talent, big & fast, and efficient in the red zone (7 TDs in 2012). He may finally be in a situation to breakout in 2013. With an ADP around 121, Tate is being undervalued on draft day as a WR3 with WR2 upside. He's a serious sleeper and breakout candidate for fantasy football in 2013.
