Joel Alvarez extended his win streak by defeating UFC veteran Vicente Luque via unanimous decision on the main card of UFC Rio on Saturday. After landing a punch in the first round, Luque signalled that he was poked in the eye, the action was stopped, but the replay showed that it came from a thumb graze rather than a finger, which is legal. Alvarez could have finished Luque on a few occasions, but Luque managed to survive. In 15 minutes of action, Alvarez landed a takedown and 89 significant strikes. This is the Spaniard's fourth consecutive victory, and he should probably be matched against a top-15 opponent in his next appearance.--Alen Kurbasic
