Yegor Chinakhov Scratched for Season Opener
Columbus Blue Jackets winger Yegor Chinakhov will be in the press box on Thursday when the team begins its 2025-26 season with a road contest against the Nashville Predators. After requesting a trade during the offseason, it seems Chinakhov isn't part of the team's plans. However, Columbus has yet to find a suitable deal, leaving the Russian forward in limbo. Chinakhov played in 30 games last term, posting seven goals and 15 points. These may end up being his final appearances for the team. With Chinakhov seemingly in head coach Dave Evason's doghouse, Cole Sillinger has gotten an opportunity to start the season in a top-six role.
