Joey Ortiz Goes on Injured List With Strained Hamstring
Joey Ortiz (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list on Friday with a left-hamstring strain, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB. com. In a corresponding move, the team activated first baseman/outfielder Jake Bauers (shoulder) from the injured list. Ortiz will need to miss at least the next 10 days after straining his hamstring running out a ground ball in Thursday's series finale against the Chicago Cubs. In the 27-year-old's absence, Andruw Monasterio and Brice Turang will be the primary options to handle the 6 for the Brew Crew. Monasteerio is starting at short in Friday's series opener versus the visiting San Francisco Giants. Ortiz has been money on defense for the first-place Brewers, but outside of some modest speed (11 steals), he's not much to look at in fantasy. He's slashed .233/.284/.328 with a weak .612 OPS, seven homers and 43 RBI in 125 games.
