James Outman Recalled
James Outman from Triple-A St. Paul. He'll take the roster spot of outfielder Alan Roden (thumb), who went on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with a sprained left thumb. Outman will join the Twins for the first time since the organization acquired him from the Los Angeles Dodgers for reliever Brock Stewart on July 31. He has since slashed .235/.316/.490 with three home runs, 10 RBI, and three stolen bases in 57 plate appearances with St. Paul. The Twins would welcome that type of production in the majors, and Outman has provided it in the past. He appeared to break out during a 2023 campaign in which he hit .248/.353/.437 with 23 homers, 70 RBI, 86 runs scored, and 16 stolen bases in 567 plate appearances. That may have been a fluke, however, as Outman has since put together a brutal .137/.245/.269 line with six HRs, 15 RBI, 20 runs, two steals, and a 36.5% strikeout rate in 200 trips to the plate in the majors. The 28-year-old should get a crack at turning things around on an out-of-contention Twins team.
