Blake Perkins Placed on Bereavement List
The Milwaukee Brewers have placed outfielder Blake Perkins (personal) on the bereavement list. Perkins will likely miss the Brewers' weekend series against the NL Central-rival Cincinnati Reds as a result. The 28-year-old sat out the first three-plus months of the season with shin and groin injuries, but he has drawn a good amount of playing time since debuting on July 18. With Jackson Chourio on the 10-day injured list since July 30 with a hamstring strain, Perkins has been the Brewers' everyday center fielder of late. Perkins is known more for his defense, but he has hit a terrific .264/.338/.472 with three homers, nine RBI, 19 runs scored, and five stolen bases over 80 plate appearances this year. His absence should open up playing time for Brandon Lockridge, who came over from the San Diego Padres at the July 31 trade deadline.
