Tony Gonsolin Out for Season, Faces Long Road Back from Elbow Surgery
Tony Gonsolin (elbow) will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing an internal brace and flexor tendon repair procedure on Tuesday. The 31-year-old had been on the injured list since June 7 due to right elbow discomfort, and this latest setback is expected to sideline him for eight to 10 months. That timeline erases any slim hopes of a return this year and likely pushes his availability well into the 2026 season. Gonsolin has now lost two straight seasons to major arm injuries after missing all of 2024 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He managed just seven starts in 2025, struggling to a 5.00 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and .244 opponents average. Despite the recent health issues, Gonsolin owns a strong career track record with a 3.34 ERA and 37-13 record across parts of seven seasons.
