Austin Slater to Miss 4-6 Weeks With Hamstring Strain
Austin Slater (hamstring) is slated to miss four to six weeks with his hamstring strain, according to manager Aaron Boone. The Yankees put Slater on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday after he strained his hamstring on Monday. The 32-year-old will be on the shelf for a while after going hitless in seven at-bats with four strikeouts in his first three games in pinstripes after being acquired in a trade with the Chicago White Sox at the trade deadline. Before the trade, Slater was hitting just .236 (29-for-123) with five home runs, 11 RBI, 20 runs scored and a stolen base in 51 games with the White Sox. Slater is not worth stashing in mixed leagues if he's on your roster, and he'll likely be in more of a bench role in the Bronx when he's able to return late in the season.
