Shane Bieber Set for Rehab Start Saturday, Blue Jays Debut Drawing Closer
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Shane Bieber (elbow) is scheduled to make another rehab start this Saturday, with likely one more to follow before manager John Schneider considers a call-up. Bieber was acquired at the trade deadline from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for right-hander Khal Stephen. The 30-year-old has not pitched since April 2024 after undergoing Tommy John surgery and is expected to make a return in late-August. Bieber spent six and a half seasons with Cleveland and owns a career 3.22 ERA with 958 strikeouts across 843 innings. He won the American League Cy Young Award in 2020 and could be an elite late-season addition.
