The 9 Most Likely Destinations for Micah Parsons

Jerry Jones - NFL Owner, Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys edge rusher and NFL All-Pro Micah Parsons has requested a trade following stalled contract negotiations. RotoBaller analyzes the best potential landing spots.

Dallas Cowboys Defense DST - Micah Parsons, IDP Rankings

Micah Parsons Requests Trade - Potential Landing Spots

Dallas Cowboys edge rusher and NFL All-Pro Micah Parsons has requested a trade following stalled – and seemingly contentious – contract negotiations with the Jones family. RotoBaller analyzes the best potential landing spots for the 26-year-old defensive superstar.

New England Patriots - NFL Logo Stock

New England Patriots - 2025 Available Cap Space: $59.9 Million

The rebuild is in full swing in New England, and adding a player of Parsons caliber would supercharge those efforts. New Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel would love to have a weapon like Parsons in his defensive arsenal, and the Pats are uniquely suited to take on the massive financial commitment that would be needed to land him. Despite spending record amounts this offseason, New England still boasts a massive $59.9 million in cap space – the most in the NFL.

Las Vegas Raiders - NFL LOGO, STOCK

Las Vegas Raiders - 2025 Available Cap Space: $37.8 Million

Another organization that’s trying to reboot the culture, the Raiders brought in Pete Carroll this offseason in an effort to stabilize the trajectory of the franchise. An addition like Parsons to a defense that already has Maxx Crosby would give the Silver & Black the most-feared pass rushing duo in the NFL, and in an AFC West that features the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert. With the NFL’s fourth-most available cap space in 2025, and what’s projected to be the league’s most cap space in 2026, the Raiders could handle the hefty financial implications of Parsons’ expected contract.

Arizona Cardinals - NFL, Logo, Stock

Arizona Cardinals - 2025 Available Cap Space: $35.5 Million

Arizona showed some flashes last year under Jonathan Gannon, and the Cardinals have been aggressive in attempts to upgrade their defense this offseason, signing Josh Sweat and Calais Campbell, while spending early-round draft picks on Walter Nolen and Will Johnson. Bringing in a player of Parson’s caliber would be yet another big swing for a Cardinals franchise that hasn’t made the NFL Playoffs since 2021.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS LOGO - NFL, STOCK

Seattle Seahawks - 2025 Available Cap Space: $34.7 Million

Seattle continued to clear out any remnants of the Pete Carroll era this offseason, shipping out Geno Smith and DK Metcalf in trades, as well as letting franchise stalwart Tyler Lockett walk in free agency. The message is clear – this is head coach Mike Macdonald’s team. The former Ravens defensive coordinator is building a stout defense and Parsons would be the ultimate chess piece in Macdonald’s scheme.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS LOGO - NFL, STOCK

Los Angeles Chargers - 2025 Available Cap Space: $31.5 Million

Another AFC West squad who is focused on ending the divisional reign of Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. The Chargers are trending up following Jim Harbaugh’s first season on the sidelines in 2024. Not only does L.A. seem to have their head coaching situation figured out, they are in an excellent salary cap situation as well. The Bolts have the seventh-most cap space in the NFL this season and project to have plenty of available space in 2026 as well, making a move for Parsons doable from a financial perspective.

Cincinnati Bengals - 2025 Available Cap Space: $28.8 Million

The frugal Bengals would likely never have the wherewithal to pull this sort of move off, but the idea of swapping their current disgruntled star pass rusher – Trey Hendrickson – for another in Parsons is an intriguing, out-of-the-box solution. They’ve committed huge amounts of money to keep their offense in tact, but Cincy will also need to spend on the defensive side of the ball eventually.

Perhaps paying a 26-year-old Parsons is a bit more palatable for the notoriously penny-pinching Bengals front office than coming to terms with the 30-year-old Hendrickson? From the Dallas side, they would get a talented player in return for Parsons, but wouldn’t have to commit as much long-term money to Hendrickson.

LOS ANGELES RAMS LOGO - NFL, STOCK

Los Angeles Rams - 2025 Available Cap Space: $19.4 Million

The Rams underwent a mini-retooling following their 2021 Super Bowl-winning season, but head coach Sean McVay and GM Les Snead appear to once again have L.A. shaped into serious title contenders. With an established offense that includes Matthew Stafford, Puka Nacua, and offseason acquisition Davante Adams, the Rams should be able to put points on the board.

Adding Parsons to a defense that includes budding superstar Jared Verse would vault this squad into undeniable Super Bowl contenders. While the financials might be a bit tight at first, the Rams are projected to have the league’s fourth-most available cap space in 2026.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS LOGO - NFL, STOCK

Pittsburgh Steelers - 2025 Available Cap Space: $19.2 Million

Well…it doesn’t get much more “win now mode” than signing Aaron Rodgers. This veteran Steelers squad appears to be putting all their chips in the middle for the short term, so why not continue the all-in mentality by bringing in Parsons to pair with All-Pro defender T.J. Watt? Pittsburgh and Dallas to have a good existing dialogue, as the teams agreed to terms on a George Pickens trade earlier in the offseason.

DALLAS COWBOYS LOGO - NFL, STOCK

Dallas Cowboys - 2025 Available Cap Space: $31.4 Million

We saved Parsons current team for last. While the current relationship between Parsons and the Cowboys appears to be well past the point of strained, the talented 26-year-old remaining in Big D remains the most likely scenario. We’ve seen Jerry Jones go to the wire in contract negotiations in recent years, waiting until the last possible moment to pay stars such as Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. We’re likely seeing similar stall tactics at play with Parsons, though it makes little sense to draw out what has long seemed inevitable.

Sure…maybe Jerry finally has lost it, but refusing to pay one of the most productive defensive players of his generation is past the point of crazy. There’s a good chance Jones’ strange tactics end with a mended relationship and massive payday for Parsons.
