Chris Martin Suffers Calf Strain, Takes Loss on Sunday
Chris Martin (calf) left early in a 2-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Sunday after suffering a calf strain, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports. It truly added injury to insult for Martin, who fell to 1-6 on the season after giving up an earned run on three hits in two-thirds of an inning. Martin's injury forced him to exit in the top of the eighth after allowing a go-ahead RBI single to Matt Vierling. He's likely ticketed for a trip to the 15-day injured list, according to Grant. If Martin does go on the IL, it'll cost Texas a dependable late-game option for at least two weeks. The 39-year-old has pitched to a sterling 2.36 ERA with 36:6 K:BB, 12 holds, and two saves over 34 1/3 innings.
