Brandon Lowe Placed on 10-Day Injured List With Oblique Tightness
Brandon Lowe (oblique) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to July 8) on Friday with left-oblique tightness and recalled infielder Curtis Mead from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move. Lowe initially injured his oblique in Sunday's game against the Minnesota Twins, and now he'll be out through the All-Star break next week. The 31-year-old left-handed slugger will be eligible to return for the start of the second half of the season on July 18, but he might need more time to recover given the nature of his injury. The two-time All-Star is having one of the finest seasons of his career, batting .272/.324/.487 with 19 homers and 50 RBI, so he's worth stashing in most fantasy formats while he rehabs. Jose Caballero is starting at the keystone for the Rays on Friday against Boston, but Taylor Walls and Mead will also be options at second with Lowe out.
